First of all Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope you are enjoy a relaxing day with the people you love, as that is what this holiday is all about. I am linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, and Mar at Mar on the Run for this week’s Five For Friday one day early. YEAH. And this week theme is favorites and since it is Christmas, I thought I would talk about my favorite Christmas things.
Even though my blog is fairly new (less than three months old), I think I have mentioned once or twice that I am Jewish. That being said, I am laughing because I would have never thought I would be writing about my favorite Christmas things. A little of my background, growing up my family did not partake in any Christmas celebrations. We did not send out holiday cards. We never put up a Hanukkah bush in hopes that Hanukkah Harry would leave us gifts. Christmas to us was just another ordinary day. So I probably would not have been able to tell you my favorite Christmas things. Fast forward 10 years, it’s a whole different story. I married the love of my life, who happens to be catholic, and I now partake in many of his families traditions.
.1. Spending Time With My Family– I know it sounds so cliche but it is true. Life has not been easy on me, especially the time between my mid 20s to early 30s, I had lost my mother, my best friend. I was confused about what my purpose in life was supposed to be. I was training to be a podiatrist but I just didn’t feel fulfilled. But than I met my husband, got married, and popped out a couple of kids. Now at least I know, part of my purpose is to be a loving mother and wife. 2. Hearing about Random Acts of Kindness– I think the holidays bring out the good and the bad in people. Always at this time of year, I hear random acts of kindness. And when I hear these stories, that makes me think…….
3. The Joy in my children’s eyes. As I mentioned before in a previous post, I am all about gift giving. I love watching my sons open their presents and the pure joy and innocents on their face. I think that is the greatest gift of all. It makes me understand the true joy of giving
4. The Music– When I say the music, I do not mean the religious songs, by any means. I am talking about the top 40 Christmas songs. Maybe I will be dating myself by saying this but one of my favorite songs for this time of year is, “All I want For Christmas is you ” by Mariah Carry.
5.Christmas Cards. I love seeing getting Christmas cards from family and friends. So many of my friends are married with their own family and i do not get to see them through the year so its nice to get those picture cards to see how their family has changed since last year.
