Lead Engineer - Electronic Hardware - EMC
The EMC Specialist will consult with teams across the Avionics business to support a variety of both Military and Commercial projects, covering all aspects of the EMC.Provide technical leadership to personnel / cross functional teams supporting the assigned projectImplement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systemsDevelop action plans with guidance to respond to issues / problemsLead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirementsParticipate and present or review technical and program reviewsEnsure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and proceduresWork with projects and customers to define appropriate EMC / EMI test requirements at component, LRU and system levelWork with projects and teams to develop EMI strategiesCreation of EMC documentation (Test Procedures, Control Plans, Design / Investigation Reports and presentations) based on customer requirementsEstimate EMC activities / schedulesDefine and develop representative EMC test systemsSupport EMC testing at various facilitiesInfluence product designs to meet EMC requirements (including PCB layouts)Review EMC test reportsManagement of EMC issues to arrive at a successful outcomeProvide technical input on EMC / EMI related matters to customers and suppliers as requiredProduction and maintenance of best practice and design guidelinesAssess impact of changes during lifecycle of productsProvide coaching and mentoring on EMC / EMI for the wider engineering community
Role Summary / Purpose
The EMC Specialist demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals / programs / processes for an area or business segment.
Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-
term and some long-term business goals. Provides specialist EMC guidance to Engineering teams across platforms and customers.
Qualifications / RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or strong secondary school qualifications with significant experience in Engineering) or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in electronic engineering or a related subjectModerate amount of demonstrable experience in an EM environmentSignificant experience of performing EMC testing and working in test lab environmentExperienced in the creation of EMC documentation (Test Procedures, Control Plans, Design / Investigation Reports and presentations) based on customer requirementsAbility to diagnose and resolve EMC issues at System, Unit and down to component level on Board AssembliesProven experience in electronics design for EMC, HIRF and LightningAble to work effectively in a team environmentUsed to working within a recognised quality systemExperience with the specification and selection of componentsCapable of Technical Liaison with Suppliers and CustomersHaving the organisational skills to deliver to budget and schedule with minimal supervisionWilling to travel, sometimes internationally, when requiredThe skills to identify and develop new approaches and solutionsAbility to interface directly with customers
