For Scotland's Mental Health Post: Support Worker 2 (2 posts) Ref: W570 Service: SAMH Youth Service Location: Office based in Priesthill , working throughout Glasgow City Hours: 37.5 hours per week Shifts: Monday - Friday 9-5pm; some evening and weekend work may be required to meet service needs Salary: £17,063.00 - £18,996.00 (Salary points 13 to 19) Contract: Permanent SAMH is currently looking to recruit enthusiastic driven Support Workers for the Glasgow Youth Service, which is a city wide housing support service providing a variety of practical and emotional support to young people who use the service.
You will be working with people between 16 - 24 years of age who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, often with experience of trauma and complex issues. Your role will be to support young people to secure tenancies and make the transition into independent living, achieving tenancy sustainment and positive social inclusion within their communities, in conjunction with health and social care professionals. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to make a difference by facilitating support and approaches that enables people to achieve their own outcomes.
You must be an effective communicator, highly motivated and the ability to work with a level of autonomy. The role will involve lone working therefore applicants must also demonstrate excellent time management and efficient diary planning skills. The service mainly operates Monday - Friday 9-5pm however there may be evening and weekend work required to meet the needs of the people using the service.
